There have been people coming to see the house almost every day so I've been off the computer for quite awhile. Sorry I have missed some of your posts.
Well, my daughter Christine came back from Northern BC Sunday night. She had a job as medic. This job wasn't as bad as the one in January because the weather was good - no blizzards. She did have to drive two and a half hours there and back each day; so including the driving she worked 17 hours a day.
She said she saw a large herd of deer and asked her friend if it was a "deer farm". Her friend just laughed at her. Christine isn't used to seeing hundreds of deer all together in one place. Her main source of entertainment was listening to the truckers on the CB radio. They are continually yelling and swearing at each other about how they drive, but they also visit and talk about their families.
There were no accidents or emergencies - just hours of waiting for them! But she takes books and computer games with her. The guys always like her. One man brought her licorice every day and she could have had dinner with a worker who had no top teeth. She didn't have time though.
She said most men who work up north are missing teeth. She isn't sure why. There is probably a lack of dentists or something. Maybe it's because there is usually only deer and moose around to see you.

That probably is the reason why. Either that, or they have poor health insurance.
They're either all hockey players or transplants from the South.
No teeth? Blame the licorice! (LOL) I'm happy to know that Christine finished her stint up north without any problems, dear Belle. I'm glad she didn't detect the smell of rotten eggs drifting through the air. She is gaining valuable experience and I'm very happy to know that the men all liked and respected her.
This is the firs time I came to know about a region where people have lost their upper teeth. Could there be an environmental reason?
Aww, glad she's back! Men with no teeth? hahaha Sound as bad some of my dates!
Hi Michael - It is so nice to see you again. If they work for the oil companies then they have dental coverage. I guess they just don't care!
Alex- Hockey could be the reason. I would bet they all played when they were young.
Tom- I'm relieved when she comes home safe and sound. She says everyone up north is friendly. I'm glad for that too.
Munir- I don't think so, but who knows?
Yvonne- Glad she is back too. Hope your dates get better!
It takes all kinds, I guess! Glad you're back online.
Hi Betty- I'm up late reading blogs right now. Have to go to bed soon though.
That's kind of weird that so many of the guys lack teeth up there, a little sad too, everybody should be entitled to top dental care. Sounds like a seriously interesting job though, Christine is off doing things she's never done before and enjoying it at that and to me that's something that warrants a lot of respect.
Ahhh- how do they chew anything? They must really be focused on their work to so completely not care.
Christine sounds like a great person, and her days were AWFULLY long. It does sound like an interesting change of pace, though, from an office job.
We have a recluse neighbor who also has no teeth. He does have the majority of the wild deer around his place. Who knows?
Dearest Belle,
Oh your sweet daughter Christine has a long working hour and I hope she won't get so tired. I would be stunned seeing all that number of deer p;) Lovely to read that she is liked by everyone♡♡♡
Oh, how come? There must be some reason for it. Sad that they are deprived of fun eating food to a certain extent.
Sending you lots of love and hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*
dinner with a worker with no top teeth...hmmm...nice!
Hi Belle. Good to see you here again today. Oh my, fancy your poor daughter missing out on having dinner with a man with no top teeth!!! She certainly knows how to live, doesn't she?! Hugs to you my friend.
No time for the toothless guy? Too bad for Christine! haha... ;) I think it is seriously cool that she's taken on this new job and I've really enjoyed all your cartoons about it.
That was so darn funny! Hey, dental work is expensive...
