My daughter Christine is a nurse. She was working at a doctor's office but found it boring. She wanted excitement and new challenges so she decided to work up north at the oil rigs as a rescue medic. First she had to take three courses. The first one was in Vancouver and she asked some distant relatives (I won't say who and they have never read my blog) if she could stay there. They graciously said yes. However, they didn't warn her that they fight every day.
Christine had to sleep on a pull-out sofa and they were up late shouting at each other every night.
One night she came home from school and one of them was cooking half naked in the kitchen til all hours. The half that was naked was embarrassing.
Then the lady started yelling at Christine and that was enough for her. She was going to school with all men but she felt she had no choice and had to ask if she could stay with someone. There were three guys who were happy to take her in.
She got to their house and found out it was a former brothel with lots of rooms and beds that came out of the walls. The guys were perfect gentlemen and very good to her.
She was so relieved to get some sleep at last.
To be continued...
We always say, "If something crazy happens it will happen to Christine." Poor baby.

I grew up in a house where there was never an argument. (I guess they did but never in front of us kids) At 8yrs I went with my mother to spend a few days at my aunts. They fought like you would not believe, plates of food and anything that came to hand were thrown, the swearing was incredible. I saw her take a bull whip to him and several years later she took off the lobe of an ear with a real WW2 Japanese sword. Shocked and stunned, shocked and stunned..
What an adventure!
Hi, Belle! Last time I neglected to mention how much I like your new K & D header. Cute!
I am eager to know the back story about Christine's stint working in the north country. I'm sorry she moved in with The Bickersons (dated reference to 1940s radio comedy series). I can easily understand how Christine could live with three men and be treated with utmost respect because she was raised right and gives off a vibe of confidence and self esteem. At least that is my impression of her based on what you've told me. Women like Christine command respect from men and do well in life.
Tell me more. Tell me more.
Have a great day dear friend!
Bless her heart! That had to have been so difficult. And Belle, your illustrations are the bomb!
I think she made a good decision to keep as much distance as possible from those distant relatives. Your illustrations of her story are great.
Well I can't wait for the "rest of the story". Love the illustrations.
Relatives are sometimes not the best choice to live with. Made that experience too. :)
Hope she will enjoy her new work!
Aww . . . I'm glad she found somewhere safe to lay her weary head.
Oh my! Relatives can be just plain awful sometimes. Poor thing.
Good Luck to her with the new opportunities!
Eeek! Poor Christine, having to put up with the arguing and the nakedness!!! I was going to say that I'm pleased that she is now in a more peaceful environment, but I have a sneaky feeling that there is much more to come!!!
Hi friends! Thanks for the compliments and interest. Yes, it is shocking to be in a home were there is fighting. I'm glad she got out of there. I'll be continuing the story in a couple of days.
Christine's course is so cool sounding and the story is made by the awesome photos, I can't wait to hear what happened next. You have to have a massive respect for somebody who gets bored of working a kind of "normal" job and goes out and does something different, best of luck to her in this.
Can't wait to hear the next part. Good luck to her.
Christine sounds a lot like me! lol Hope she finds her way with this new job.
YOu will be surprised that this experience will either break her or make her even better at her job. In that environment she is going to have to be tough to be effective.
This is great. I mean the way you are able to illustrate you blog with your drawings. Wow!
Hi you guys - I've been working on the drawings for the next post. It takes awile and I'm busy lately. You are right Kal, she has learned to be tough.
Wow, hat off for to your sister for deciding to just go or it! And to you, Belle, for you amazing story-telling that you could sell to Hollywood any day! :D .... off to read the rest of the story ...
