Hope and Grandma's 16th Birthdays.

My granddaughter Hope (15 yrs.old) is not allowed to bring her cell phone to the dinner table. The other night, her sister Faith sat down for dinner and saw Hope texting on her phone. She was hiding the phone on her lap under the table.

Faith said to me, "Grandma, the table is GLASS!" Everyone could see her doing it!"

I love my grandchildren. My life would be so boring without them.

Hope is turning 16 in March. She has been watching a TV program called,

My Super Sweet 16.

It is about Sweet 16 parties of the rich. Hope would like a party like that. She wants to rent a beautiful hall and have a DJ and dancing. I'm afraid it would cost at least $2,000. We can't do it.

One girl on the TV show threw an Hawiian party that cost her parents $203,000. Almost all the girls on the show get a car from their parents too. Hope and Faith watch this show all the time and I think they believe these parties are for everyone.

Hmm.

Should I dare tell you all what I did for my 16th birthday?

I'll give you a hint. It was illegal.

I bought a $10 baggie of pot and invited about 5 girls over. We sat in my room and listened to music and smoked the pot out on the balcony and then the roof of my house. Yep, we had a great time and it only cost $10.  Young people just don't know how to have cheap fun any more.
