My Husband is Finally 60!

Yesterday, my husband informed me it was his birthday. Yes, I FORGOT!!! Sheesh. I always forget our anniversary, but never his birthday. Since we have been on vacation I never know what day it is and don't care. Heck, I usually don't even know what time it is since I don't wear a watch. But earlier on this trip I told him what I had bought him for a gift: 4 seasons of the TV series "Bones". He just discovered that show this year and loved it, so I thought he might want to get caught up on what happened at the beginning.

I am thrilled he turned sixty because I am 61 and am older than him by a year and a half. I hated being in my sixties married to a man in his fifties. Horrible! Well, now he is a senior like me and we can shuffle off this mortal coil getting senior discounts everywhere we go. Even Motel 6 gave us discounts because he was almost sixty! Yippee.
(I looked up "mortal coil" because I wondered what it meant - "The toils and trouble of this life." The saying became popular through Shakespeare. Coil is no longer used as a synonym for "disturbances". So, there you go.

I met a lady at the slot machines yesterday who was very nice. (And yes, she did ask me where I came from.) She said she comes to the casino when her hubby is grouchy. She also said she comes to the casino a lot! I believe it since the manager of the place came by to say hi and the waitresses knew her.

I told her my husband hates to gamble and stays in our room watching TV and sleeping. She seemed surprised we came to Nevada since he doesn't gamble. Well, I'm kind of surprised myself, but he does love the desert. I played for many hours on $40 again, so I am happy. I'm on a budget and it is going really well. I am being a good girl.

The Circus Circus hotel is a very confusing place. I was trying to cash in one of my slot tickets but the cashier said, "This is for Circus Circus."

 I said, "Yes."

She said, "You aren't in Circus Circus."

I thought, "Well, damn! I'm pretty sure I didn't go outside so where am I?"

It turns out there are three casinos attached to each other: El Dorado, Silver Legacy, and Circus Circus. They are connected by walkways (miles long, believe me). If you play the slots at one, you can't cash in at the other. I looked at my tickets and I had one from each casino. You should have seen me wandering around trying to find these casinos and cash in. They just blend into each other.

I get lost every day. I stand there and look around for a landmark and then immediately head off in the wrong direction. It takes me at least a half hour to find my room. I keep saying to hubby as he shows me a little map, "Okay, I've got it now." But no, I haven't got it and I constantly stop employees to ask them where I am. I do get a lot of exercise though. There is an up side to everything!

We didn't go anywhere today because our car's brakes were scraping so we had to get them fixed. We don't want to go home with no brakes!
