Carson City, Nevada

Well, every time I open my mouth and talk with people they ask me where I am from. See, I was right about me having some sort of Canadian accent! I wish I knew why I sound so different. Maybe it isn't a Canadian accent, just a crazy Belle accent. Who knows?

Today we went to Carson City, which was named after the Carson River, which was named after Kit Carson, who was a famous scout and frontiersman. (Did you get all that?) We went to the visitor's center and the lady there gave us a map to show us where all the heritage houses are located. They have even painted a blue line on the sidewalks to guide you around.

This is the Governor's Mansion.

They filmed the movie, The Shootist, here and used this next house. The movie starred John Wayne and Lauren Bacall. I've seen it because my husband loves John Wayne movies, and I have to admit most of them are good. The Shootist is one of my favorites. This plaque shows the actors in front of the house.

For some reason I love this house. It is so different looking.

So, that was it for Carson City and we had a nice time there. It's a lovely place and the Capitol of Nevada.

I'm following my doctor's orders and eating lots of protein. For lunch I had bacon, deep-fried fish and country-fried chicken. I felt great afterwards, but I'm not sure what my heart thinks of all that cholesterol! We were at a buffet so I didn't have much choice. Yesterday, I had a steak with eggs. Very yummy, but very different for me as I was close to being a vegetarian before this diet. I'm also eating nuts and beef jerky. Horrible, I hate both of them.
