Christchurch, New Zealand

Most of you have seen me write about Cherish, my oldest granddaughter. Her father Jessie (Christine's husband is step-father) lives in Christchurch, New Zealand. When we heard about the recent earthquake we didn't know anything, but then we heard the huge cathedral was demolished. We knew Jessie and his girlfriend lived one block down from the church. No one could get hold of him so we were all praying and hoping he was ok. Then we found out his mother had come to visit and had landed the day before the earthquake.

We just found out they are all alive and fine. Their house was wrecked, but none of them were home at the time. His girlfriend was at work and Jessie and his mom were shopping. We are so relieved and happy they are okay.

I guess they are evacuating the city now. Jessie and family are going to live with his girlfriend's parents who live just outside the city.

Miniature European Railroad.

This post is dedicated to Odie at http://odielangley.blogspot.com
I know he likes miniatures because he has made miniature log cabins.

Last weekend my daughter and her family drove to Osoyoos, BC to see Osoyoos Desert Model Railroad, Canada's largest Marklin lay-out. It is a fantastic place. But then, I love miniature stuff, like doll houses etc. Anyway, here are just a few pictures of the place. The man built it in the top floor of his own house and storage building. I'm not sure what his wife thinks of that.

It takes up around 4,000sq ft. so these pictures don't do it justice.
