This is a picture of Maggie (the larger dog) walking with Leia. We have had her about 10 years. We don't know how old she is because the SPCA didn't know. The first time we saw her she was in a cage with a huge black dog who was sitting on her. Everyone loved her at once.
Well, my two youngest granddaughters, Faith and Hope, were taking Maggie for a walk the other day. They were going by the park and saw two teenage boys coming towards them on the sidewalk. At about 15 feet away, one of the boys jumped in front of Maggie with his arms flailing and yelled, "Boo." Not a good idea.
Maggie snarled, showed her fangs and took off after the boy at warp speed. The leash flew out of Faith's hand and Maggie chased him down the street for a long time. Faith said the boy was screaming in fear. Faith and Hope kept calling Maggie and she finally came back to them.
Maggie may look harmless, but I've seen her catch a mouse in a field and a rabbit in the back yard. She loves to chase and kill things. I guess that boy was lucky.
