Why?
I'm sure you've noticed the tiny bugs that dance around each other in a sunbeam. They act like they are hyper-active doing some kind of whirling dervish to a drum beat only they can hear.
I was watching these bugs and thinking, "Why are they doing this? What are they thinking? Can they think?" I know one of the big ones was thinking, "I'm thristy," because he dive-bombed into my Coke. But what about all the other ones?
Now that I am retired from babysitting my grandchildren, I have tons of time on my hands so I thought I would do some research. According to Robert T. Sullivan, at www.jstor.org, "...the males individually search for and pair with females." And that is what the frenzy is all about.
I should have known. In most of life, and especially in politics, everything is about either sex or money. Bugs have no pants in which to hold money, so it just had to be about sex.
